SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS - SEPTEMBER 10, 1999

After some early morning rain over SE QLD, it cleared up quite quickly after 10am.  The early hours of the afternoon showed mostly clear skies and some rather ordinary looking Cu.  Not exactly what we wanted to see.  However, storms did start to develop mid afternoon SW of Brisbane.  Although the storms did remain fairly weak and dissorganised, they produce some heavy rain in parts.  There were some more intense echo's on radar NW of Brisbane with several cells reaching max intensity. Unfortunately the storms were not very photographic from my location.

Thunderstorms continued well into the night in SE QLD.  The northern and NW'rn suburbs were treated to an hour + of Cg's and Anvil crawlers from a slow moving area of storms.  Soon after it was the southern suburbs turn, with a line of rain and storms moving in from the west.
